Dave Stewart was brilliant for 8 innings, allowing 0 runs on 2 hits. When he allowed a single and a walk to start the 9th, Rick Honeycutt came on to strike out pinch hitter Tim Hulett, then Dennis Eckersley struck out the final two batters for the save. Oakland loaded the bases with 1 out in the 3rd, but settled for 1 run on a sac fly. In the 5th, Willie McGee doubled and Jose Canseco ripped a homerun that just stayed fair. The A's finished the scoring in the 7th with a run on 3 walks and a sac fly.
