GAME 3:
With their backs to the wall, after dropping the first 2 games at home, the Orioles came out swinging. In the 1st, Randy Milligan hit an Earl Weaver special for a quick 3-0 lead. They continued to feast on Scott Sanderson in the 2nd. With 2 out, Joe Osulak singled in a run, Billy Ripken doubled in another, and Cal Ripken Jr. crushed a 412 foot bomb to dead center to make it 7-0. Meanwhile, Oakland couldn't touch Ben McDonald, as he shut them out on 5 hits for 7 innings. Sanderson settled down after the disastrous start, and didn't allow any more runs before finally exiting in the 8th. Jose Bautista came on to start the bottom of the 8th, and the A's offense finally woke up. Bautista allowed a leadoff single, then quickly retired the next 2 batters. Then the wheels fell off. Bautista, John Mitchell, Curt Schilling, and Joe Price proceeded to combine to allow 4 singles and 2 walks, and suddenly the go-ahead run was coming to the plate...Jose Canseco. That's where the Cinderella comeback ended. Price struck him out, and Gregg Olson pitched a 1-2-3 9th for the save.
