ALCS Game 4 - Oakland Outlasts Baltimore In Extra Frames. A's Magic Number Now 1

 GAME 4

Baltimore's game 3 win got them back in the series, and they jumped out to a quick lead again in this one. In the 2nd, Randy Milligan lined a 2-run homer, and the Orioles scratched out a 3rd run on Craig Worthington's RBI single. Mark McGwire lined a 2-run shot of his own in the bottom of the inning to close the gap to one run. Oakland tied it in the 5th on Willie Randolph's RBI single. Bob Milacki and Mike Moore each allowed 3 runs over 6 innings before turning the game over to the bullpens. Baltimore put runners on 1st and 3rd with 1 out in the 7th, but a double play killed the rally. In the bottom of the inning, the A's had runners on 2nd and 3rd with 1 out. With the infield in, McGwire was going on contact and was thrown out at the plate. Randolph crushed one to deep center, but it died on the warning track to end the threat. In the 8th, Harold Baines struck out with runners on 1st and 3rd, then Rickey Henderson got thrown out trying to steal home to kill another threat. In the 9th, Oakland loaded the bases with nobody out, but runners were forced at the plate on consecutive plays, the second of which was the front end of an inning-ending double play. In the 10th, Joe Price entered the game, causing Dave Henderson to pinch hit for Willie McGee. Henderson jumped on a 2-2 pitch for a walk-off homer and a commanding 3-1 series lead.
